Playdough
Make a large batch of playdough (recipe below) and add a box of soft clay for the more adventurous. Store the playdough in Ziploc bags, and cut the clay into hand sized blocks with fishing line. Clay is available at most Community Arts Centres. Don’t worry about the final products, it’s the process that is important in this art activity. Guaranteed to bring everyone out to play!

Playdough Recipe

Make ahead, or have adult and child make it together. Can be stored in a plastic container in the fridge. Remember playdough can carry germs from the hands, so clean hands first, and change playdough regularly.

2 cups flour
1 cup table salt
4 teaspoons Cream of Tartar
4 Tablespoons of cooking oil
2 cups of boiling water
Food colouring

Mix 2 cups of boiling water with 4 Tablespoons of oil. Pour in salt. Stir carefully until totally dissolved. Add a few drops of food colouring. Slowly mix in flour and Cream of Tartar. When cool to the touch, knead on counter until smooth. You are set to go with the dough!
